Dr Carole Hjelm is a Careers Adviser at the University of London . Her own career has included a range of scientific posts in the NHS and industry in the UK , Europe and the Far East .

Roles as clinical biochemist, senior scientific officer at the Department of Health and pharmaceutical clinical chemist led to the position of Consultant Biochemist at Mayday Healthcare Trust in the early 1990’s. Her industrial experience has also included pharmaceutical trials, and, more recently, technical support services manager for the Asia Pacific region of a medical instrument manufacturer. Here her focus was on the training and development of health care professionals.
